USA Infantry Officers sword 1821/1840

One of the principal swords worn under the regulation of 1821, was that of the beaded knuckle bow . The specimen presented here is a good and very fine example of this type, undoubtedly made well before 1830.

The sword has an brass eagle pommel, with 5 beads on the knuckel bow,  The straight blade is a single edged without a false edge. A broad fuller runs from the ricasso to the tip of the sword, The first half was originally blued  with the bleu ending in a decorative scroll, The blade is etched on both obverse and reverse side with floral motifs and  still shows the gold wash, it is marked Warranted, it has a very fine black leather scabbard with brass mountings, a very rare and very nice looking early american sword
