Circa 1890.

This war bonnet , used up to the beginning of the 20th century was used in a canadian circus and later by the Buffalo Bill rodeo circus, which went bankrupt in Belgium, thus a lot of their gear remained in belgium.

This bonnet is pretty much complete and good condition, but is of course showing the use and age.

De flat little pearls  (typical for the second half of the 19th century) are all there , aswell the 83 Bald eagle feathers.

The sides are adorned with each time, 3 weasel skins, attached by a bearclaw and elk teeth.  Dit item comes out of a private collection, where it resided since the 1920 ties and was never shown on the open market.  These just never come up for sale.
all stitching is original.  These war bonnets were used by ''Chiefs'' of the tribes of the great plains, who lived from the middle states up to canada. (blackfoot)
