Military issued Colt Dragoon Type 1, cal 44  BEST OF BEST

Serialnumber 6163, all matching, except the wedge, which is number 186, so the same regiment. It is accepted for these revolvers to have mixed numbers , only if of the same regiment.

This one is on the list of issued revolvers to the military and it is one of the few first models that have actually a military inspectormark on the grips. (both sides.
Most of the first issue did not have these and it is extremy rare to find one.

One of a delivery of 1000 to the first Regiment Dragoons.
the inspectors are S.K. (samuel Knows, and W.A.T.  will. A. Thornton)

Built in 1849,  the cylinderscene is 100 %. and is of the Dragoon scene instead of beeing marked U.S.M.R., which adds a lot of extra value.  bore is great, showing complete rifling and very light spots, all markings are present on barre, works pergfect and is 100 % correct.
It is truly very difficult to find a correct inspected and early first type dragoon with inspectormarks and full scene. BEST OF BEST
